In a survival or wilderness situation, having the right tools and equipment available to do the many tasks required is an essential. From digging to starting fires to self-defense, we need tools of various sorts to help keep us going.

But it’s not always a good idea, or even feasible to have a different tool for each different job – we’d have so many of the damn things we’d never be able to move! So the ideal tool can multi-task (my wife says that the best ones must therefore be designed by women!).

When it comes to multi-tasking, my own all time pick is the E-Tool (“E” standing for entrenching). These come in various designs and quality levels, but all are really useful and versatile items that really should be in every prepper kit.
