If you are dealing with backlash on a bait caster, a dental pick is an excellent tool because it works well without cutting the line. Carry it capped in your pocket and it’ll be easily accessible!

6. Wine corks make great slide bobbers.

Minimize the risk of losing expensive gear like those top-grade sunglasses simply by drilling two holes in a cork from a wine bottle. If they end up in the water then they’ll be floating rather than sinking. You can then thread your keeper through the holes and you’ll be all set.
