When we think about prepper planning and the likely SHTF scenarios, it’s perfectly reasonable that we consider them happening on land. After all, that’s where we spend pretty much all of our time right?

However, it would also be wise to consider the fact that there may be some times when you’re going to have to spend time in some large body of watter, because:

• you might be in a shipwreck of some sort
• you might have to dive for food or to recover equipment
• the only safe way of getting somewhere is by water

There are probably more, but you get the idea. The thing is that for these sort of situations, you’re either going to need incredibly strong lungs, or some sort of breathing device. It’s unlikely that you’ll just find some scuba gear lying around, so you need to be able to make your own somehow.
